Summary
This article will walk you through how to split a finished good to be repackaged as a different finished good.
Step by Step Guide
The best way to handle this is to use a Special Production Order. Here are the steps to repackage a finished good using a Production Order:
- Go to Production>Production Order
- Change the "Type" from Standard to Special. What this does is ignores the Bill of Materials for the item being produced.
- Enter the item number you are producing in the header
- Enter the amount you are going to create
- In the components, enter the items that will be used to execute this repackaging
- The Planned Quantities will default to a 1-to-1 ratio. Update the Planned Quantities to match what you are actually going to issue and receive. (the example below is turning a 1/2 BBL keg into 3 sixtels)
- the 1/2 BBL keg Item
- 3 1/6 BBL keg shells
- 3 keg caps (or 2 if you are going to reuse the keg cap from the 1/2 BBL keg)
- Negative 1 1/2 BBL keg shell (to bring this item back into stock)
- You'll set this item to be Manual if it's set to BackFlush under the Issue Method
- Enter the Date that this repackaging took place
- Add the Production Order
- Process/Express the PdO the same way you would do any other production
Example:
In this picture, a 1/2 BBL keg of Amber Ale is turning into three 1/6 BBLs
